The vastly experienced forward scored whilst on trial for the Blades against Inter Milan in the summer of 2018, before penning a deal and he has proved to be one of the best free signing transfers in recent years following his release by Ipswich Town. The former Republic of Ireland international played a key role in United's promotion-winning team in 2018/19 and impressed in the top-flight, finishing the 2020/21 season as the Blades top scorer with eight goals. McGoldrick started his career at Southampton before permanent spells at Nottingham Forest and Portman Road in addition to a number of loan spells up and down the country. Prior to retiring from international football in 2020, McGoldrick won 14 caps.
